Recently, the college was delighted to be awarded ‘College of Sanctuary’ status in recognition of the work that we do in trying to ensure that we are a place of sanctuary and welcome for applicants, whatever the difficulties they have faced. We’ve been celebrating all week with our friends in the Syrian community, who joined us for the recent Arts and Culture Festival, as well as our annual staff event – providing delicious food drawn from more than 180 different ingredients!
By chance the launch also coincided with news that our student ‘Friends Not Foes’ group had, for the second year running, received a Colchester Youth award recognising their work with the refugee community. Well done
Watch out for more events next term, including the official unveiling of our official certificate in reception.
